President Donald Trump is addressing the decision to execute convicted Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan by firing squad. Speaking at a campaign rally in San Antonio, Texas, Wednesday night, Trump discussed the execution plans for Hasan, who was sentenced to death for the 2009 mass shooting at the Texas military base. Hasan, a former Army psychiatrist, was convicted of killing 13 people and wounding 32 others during the November 5, 2009, attack at Fort Hood, now known as Fort Cavazos. The shooting remains one of the deadliest attacks at a U.S. military installation. Trump's remarks come as the military prepares to carry out Hasan's death sentence, which would mark a rare use of the firing squad in the modern U.S. military justice system.
