PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep 24, 2025--

TÜV Rheinland North America has expanded the certification capabilities of its Pleasanton, California laboratory, adding two key MEAS (Measurement, Control, and Laboratory Equipment) standards to its IEC/CB scope: IEC 61010-2-011 and IEC 61010-2-012.

This enhancement allows manufacturers of refrigeration and environmental simulation equipment to certify their products locally under the globally recognized IECEE CB Scheme, accelerating international market access.

“This expansion underscores our commitment to meeting the rising demand for safe, reliable laboratory and environmental testing equipment in industries such as research, healthcare, biotechnology, and advanced manufacturing,” said Benjamin Slocum, General Manager Products in Pleasanton, CA at TÜV Rheinland North America. “By providing one-stop local testing and certification services, we enable clients to shorten time to market and access over 50 countries through the CB Scheme—while ensuring compliance with rigorous international safety standards.”

The expanded scope now covers a wide range of products, including:

  • Laboratory refrigerators and freezers
  • Cryogenic equipment
  • Refrigerated centrifuges and display cabinets
  • Recirculating coolers and refrigerating circulators
  • Environmental test and Plant growth chambers
  • Climate simulation equipment

The addition of IEC 61010-2-011 helps manufacturers demonstrate compliance with safety requirements for refrigerating equipment, addressing risks related to temperature, pressure, and flammable refrigerants. Meanwhile, IEC 61010-2-012 provides assurance for environmental simulation equipment, which must safely reproduce and maintain precise environmental conditions for research, testing, and industrial applications.

“With our expanded capabilities in Pleasanton, manufacturers can have their products evaluated closer to their development or production sites, significantly reducing transportation costs and avoiding cross-border delays,” added Slocum. “What differentiates TÜV Rheinland is our approach—we combine rigorous testing with practical guidance. We not only identify compliance challenges but also work together with clients to design effective solutions that preserve both product performance and safety compliance.”

This milestone reinforces TÜV Rheinland’s position as a trusted partner for manufacturers navigating complex safety requirements and international regulatory frameworks across the laboratory and industrial equipment sectors. Learn more about it here.
