New Zealand wins toss and opts to bat against South Africa in Women’s Cricket World Cup

INDORE, India (AP) — New Zealand captain Sophie Devine won the coin toss and opted to bat against South Africa in the Women’s Cricket World Cup on Monday.

Both teams are looking for their first win in the tournament. New Zealand lost to Australia by 89 runs and England routed South Africa by 10 wickets in the opening round.

Neither side made any changes to their lineup.

The two teams met in the final of the T20 Women’s World Cup in Dubai last year, where New Zealand claimed its first title.

The pitch at the Holkar Stadium is good for batting. Australia scored 326 runs against New Zealand for the only 300-plus total in the tournament so far.

Evening dew could aid the chasing side, as South Africa will look to rebound from 69 all out against England.
