GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) — Celtic beat fierce rival Rangers 3-1 after extra time to reach the League Cup final in Scotland on Sunday.
Both Glasgow teams had recently hired managers in the dugout at Hampden Park, with interim coach Martin O’Neill taking charge of Celtic after Brendan Rodgers' departure on Monday and Rangers' Danny Rohl taking charge of his first Old Firm game.
Celtic took the lead through Johnny Kenny after 25 minutes before Rangers midfielder Thelo Aasgaard was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge.
Rangers captain James Tavernier equalized from the penalty spot in the 81st minute to take the game to extra time, where Callum McGregor and substitute Callum Osmand scored for Celtic.
Celtic will play St. Mirren in the Dec. 14 final, back at the same national stadium.
