Trump Threatens Russia With Tariffs if War in Ukraine Isn't Resolved Within 50 Days

President Donald Trump says he'll punish Russia with tariffs if there isn’t a deal to end the war in Ukraine within 50 days. The Republican president made the announcement on Monday during an Oval Office meeting with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte. Trump did not provide specifics on how the tariffs would be implemented. Trump made quickly stopping the war one of his diplomatic priorities and has increasingly expressed frustration about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s unbudging stance on U.S-led peace efforts. Trump’s special envoy to Ukraine and Russia has met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv. Zelenskyy says they had “a productive conversation.”

Flames Tear Through Assisted-Living Facility in Massachusetts, Killing 9 and Trapping Residents

Flames roared through an assisted-living facility in Massachusetts, killing nine people and trapping residents inside, including some who were hanging out of windows screaming for help. Authorities said at least 30 people were hurt. Firefighters responded to the Gabriel House facility in Fall River late Sunday and were met with heavy smoke and flames at the front of the building. About 70 people live there. The fire was out by Monday morning, and firefighters were able to rescue survivors. Many of those who were rescued were taken to hospitals in varying conditions.

Suspect Kills 2 Women in Kentucky Church After Shooting State Trooper, Police Say

Two women were killed in a shooting at a Lexington, Kentucky, church in a shooting rampage that began after a state trooper was shot and wounded, authorities said. The suspect was also killed Sunday. In a news conference, Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers says it began after the trooper pulled over a vehicle near the airport. After shooting the trooper, the suspect carjacked a vehicle and fled to the church where they began shooting at people there. The suspect was later killed by Lexington police.
