PRINCETON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep 3, 2025--

The Princeton Battlefield Society announced today that, along with the Princeton Girl Scouts and 20 historical groups, it will hold its Young Patriots Day on September 21 from 11:30 to 3:00 at Princeton Battlefield State Park in Princeton.

Children from ages eight to 13 and their families can meet George Washington and Ben Franklin, and celebrate the nation as the Girl Scouts raise the American flag.

Participants can watch as historical interpreters demonstrate 18 th Century weaving, carpentry, surveying and learn about medicine and science back when the nation declared its independence.

Children can also “join” the Continental Army and drill with the New Jersey Grays and watch them fire their muskets. Children and their parents can also tour the Clarke House and Museum and learn about a soldier’s life in 1776 and about the battle of Princeton. The West Jersey Artillery will fire their cannon.

“This is a great activity for the entire family,” said PBS President Ben Strong. “It’s a great way to not only learn a little history, but to live a little history, especially as we are coming up on the 250 th anniversary of the nation and the Battle of Princeton.

“We hope the experiences the children have on Sept. 21 will kindle a love of American history that will stay with them for the rest of their lives and that they’ll share that love with a new generation of children at the Tri-Centennial of the United States and the Battle in 2076!” Strong said.

Twenty local historical organizations will help visitors learn more about Colonial and Revolutionary New Jersey and join PBS as it celebrates Young Patriots Day.

Families interested in registering can register at www.pbs1777.org or can email PBS at [email protected].
