Georgia police shoot, kill suspect during domestic call

MORROW, Ga. (AP) — Police in Georgia say they shot and killed a suspect who pointed a gun at officers responding to a domestic situation.

Clayton County police spokeswoman Sgt. C. West told news outlets officers arrived at a domestic dispute call at the man’s home near Morrow on Sunday. West says a woman and two teenagers tried to escape but the suspect blocked the door and brandished a gun.

West says officers fired, fatally wounding him. Police said there’d been a history of domestic calls from the same home, most recently in August.

The suspect’s identity wasn’t released. Nobody else was injured.

West says the officers who fired their weapons will be placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the case.
