Georgia authorities: Man killed by police after traffic stop

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Georgia authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a man by police in Savannah following a traffic stop. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says in a Sunday news release that officers were talking to the driver of a car stopped Saturday night. A passenger in the car began moving around in the vehicle. The release says the passenger refused a police request to stop moving and show his hands, and that he stepped out of the car and pointed a gun at officers. An officer fired at the passenger, who died at the scene. The GBI said it would investigate and turn its findings over to the Chatham County District Attorney's Office.
