Paul Slavin, Chief Executive Officer of Skillshare, brings decades of leadership at the intersection of media, technology, and digital businesses

Slavin is a veteran executive with decades of leadership experience at the intersection of media, technology, and digital businesses. A former senior executive at ABC News, he received numerous awards for journalistic excellence and helped lead the network’s digital transformation. He later led multiple high-growth ventures, scaling revenue and reach through operational excellence and a focus on user experience.

“Skillshare has built something rare: a global community rooted in creativity, authenticity, and a passion for learning,” said Slavin. “I’m honored to join at this moment of opportunity. Together, we’ll expand our impact and build the next generation of tools, content, and community for creative learners and teachers around the world.”

Slavin succeeds Matt Cooper, who served as CEO for more than eight years. Under Cooper’s leadership, Skillshare became a category-defining platform for creative education, expanded internationally, and launched key product innovations for both consumers and enterprises.

“Matt has been a thoughtful and mission-driven leader,” added Slavin. “He helped define what creative learning looks like in a digital-first world. I’m excited to build upon the foundation he and the team have laid.”

“Paul’s unique combination of editorial credibility, operational discipline, and empathetic leadership makes him the ideal CEO for Skillshare’s next chapter,” said Marc Lederman, Chairman of the Board. “He understands the power of creative content—and what it takes to deliver real value to both learners and teachers.”
