Former U.S. Secretary of the Navy and U.S. Ambassador Kenneth J. Braithwaite

Braithwaite previously served as U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway, where he strengthened bilateral defense relations with particular emphasis on Arctic security cooperation. As Secretary of the Navy, he orchestrated the first-ever Tri-Service Maritime Strategy aligning the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard with the National Defense Strategy. He also led the Department of the Navy through the challenges of COVID-19 while maintaining operational readiness and protecting service members worldwide. During his tenure, he produced the first U.S. Navy Arctic Strategy and reinforced the importance of naval heritage and culture.

A 1984 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Braithwaite earned his Wings of Gold as a Naval Aviator, flying P-3 Orion aircraft in Pacific and Arctic operations. Redesignated as a public affairs officer, he served aboard USS America and with Carrier Group 2 and Striking Force 6th Fleet. He later commanded Navy Combat Camera Atlantic and became the first commander of the Joint Public Affairs Support Element. Promoted to Rear Admiral in 2007, he served as the Navy’s first Vice Chief of Information before retiring from active duty in 2011.

In the private sector, Braithwaite has held executive leadership roles across the healthcare and petroleum industries and currently serves in advisory and board positions spanning defense, advanced manufacturing, ESG-focused private equity, and quantum computing. He is Chairman of the Board of Fincantieri Marine Group, Chairman of Blue Forge Alliance, and serves on the board of Atom Computing. He is also a Fellow of the NATO School in Oberammergau, Germany, and a visiting fellow at the Perry World House at the University of Pennsylvania.

“Ambassador Braithwaite’s distinguished career in national defense, international diplomacy, and industry leadership brings tremendous strategic value to Rajant,” said Bob Schena, CEO of Rajant Corporation. “His deep understanding of military operations, defense modernization, and global security priorities will further strengthen Rajant’s role in delivering resilient, mission-critical networking solutions to defense and industrial customers worldwide.”

“I am honored to join Rajant’s Board of Directors at a time when secure, mission-critical edge networking solutions are essential to national security and industrial competitiveness,” said Braithwaite. “Rajant’s innovative technologies are uniquely positioned to support defense and critical infrastructure missions across complex and contested environments.”

As a member of the Board of Directors, Braithwaite will provide strategic guidance to support Rajant’s continued expansion across defense, industrial, and global markets.
