BREVARD, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov 11, 2025--

PLATT, an architecture, landscape architecture, construction, and interior design firm based in Brevard, North Carolina was named to Forbes Magazine’s list of the top 200 Residential Architectural Firms in the U.S.

“We are honored to be included in this very select list,” said Parker Platt, president of PLATT. “It’s a real testament to our clients who trust us with their most important projects — their homes.”

The ForbesAmerica’s Top 200 Residential Architectural Firms 2025 recognizes that climate change has highlighted “the critical importance of the role of the architect in society, especially in relation to our houses,” said Richard Olsen, an independent architectural historian author and photographer who oversees Forbes ’ architecture coverage.

Forbes evaluated over 18,000 architectural firms and reviewed 700 “exemplary houses” submitted by selected firms. Finalists were assessed based on Forbes Architecture’s seven Residential Guiding Principles & Best Practices, which include: 1) Siting and Local Context 2) Architectural Form and Detailing 3) Building Materials and Craft 4) Spatial Configuration 5) HVAC and Tech 6) Physical and Psychological Effects 7) Environmental/Appropriateness to Region and Local Climate Zone.

The exemplary house designed and built by PLATT sits on Lake Toxaway and was named “Camp Mending Heart” by its owners.

“It was a remarkable project,” said Platt. “And it demonstrates how contemporary design can meld into the environment in a really beautiful, non-intrusive way.”

The Forbes team specifically made mention of the importance of residential design that expresses an organic connection to its environment.

“Design solutions for the home ought to stem not from trends sweeping the social-media universe or some other point of disconnection but from the unique physical and cultural ground of a specific locality,” said Olsen.

“It truly was a team effort,” said Platt. “The Forbes recognition isn’t just about us. It’s about everyone involved: our clients, general contractors, interior designers, landscape architects, and all the skilled independent contractors who help us create something special.”

The Forbes’ list represents the top 1.1% of architectural firms in the country. PLATT is one of only six North Carolina firms on the list.

“In many ways, this honor reflects my dad’s leadership and vision since he founded PLATT in 1982,” said Platt of his father, Al. “Dad has always said that our practice is about listening and helping people make homes that they love, and about creating living spaces that connect to their environment.”
