Norfolk Southern: Q4 Earnings Snapshot

ATLANTA (AP) _ Norfolk Southern Corp. (NSC) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $760 million.

On a per-share basis, the Atlanta-based company said it had profit of $3.12.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $3.04 per share.

The railroad posted revenue of $2.85 billion in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.79 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $3.01 billion, or $12.11 per share. Revenue was reported as $11.14 billion.
