SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar 31, 2026--
New research from Globalgig, a leading provider of globally managed security, communication, and connectivity solutions, shows enterprises are pressing ahead with AI adoption despite mounting security anxiety over data privacy, governance gaps, and the expertise required to manage what they have already put in place. Well over three-quarters (78.5%) are already deploying AI-driven networks, and more than a fourth (27.8%) have moved to fully autonomous operations.
Globalgig’s Future of AI-Driven Networks 2026 report also reveals a striking confidence gap: while 85% of enterprises believe they have the in-house expertise to manage autonomous AI networks, 67% admit their biggest fear is deploying AI without the proper expertise. More than half (51.8%) are already using AI for security threat detection, yet concerns about data privacy and the risk of AI making incorrect security decisions remain top of mind.
“This research spotlights that the only thing more dangerous than adopting AI is not adopting it,” said Gina Nomellini, chief operations officer at Globalgig. “However, AI is profoundly changing the way networking and security operate and playing a greater role in influencing business outcomes. Enterprises need secure, high-performing networks that are ready for today and tomorrow. Globalgig exists to make sure they have exactly that.”
Security Demands a Reset
Nearly 60% of respondents stated their belief that AI-driven networks require a fundamentally different security architecture than traditional networks – one most have yet to build.
Despite these concerns, many enterprises remain cautiously optimistic: The majority (65%) believe that AI-powered defences will outpace AI-powered attacks within five years.
Businesses Need Trusted Partners
Enterprises want partners to help them navigate the new AI landscape, but on their own terms. Nearly two in five enterprises are looking to outsource AI model training and optimization — a signal that demand for capable, trustworthy partners is accelerating.
“As a global managed security provider, Globalgig works with enterprises around the world to help them secure their networks as AI reshapes the threat landscape,” said Globalgig Chief Technology Officer Jamie Pugh. “Trust remains the critical bottleneck. Providers who can demonstrate rigorous data governance will have a decisive advantage in winning enterprise trust and enabling businesses to advance their AI efforts more successfully and securely.”
AI Will Continue to Drive Transformation
Predictive and simulation technologies and autonomous networking are anticipated to be the most transformative technologies for enterprises in the next three to five years.
By 2028, enterprises expect
- 38% of network operations to be AI-assisted (with humans making final decisions)
- 32% to remain traditionally human-managed
- only 29% to be fully autonomous
“Organizations recognize both the risks and the imperative,” said Nomellini. “Standing still isn’t an option.”
