A Prayer for Vacation Rest

Life moves fast. Between work, responsibilities, schedules, and constant pressure to stay productive, many of us enter vacations already exhausted. Even while trying to relax, we can still feel pressure to “make the most” of every moment.

But God never intended for rest to feel stressful.

Psalm 127:2 reminds us that God “grants sleep to those he loves.” Rest is not weakness, laziness, or something we have to earn. Rest is a gift from a loving Father. 

Jesus Himself modeled the importance of stepping away from the noise and spending quiet time with the Father. Throughout Scripture, we see Jesus withdrawing from crowds, resting, praying, and moving without hurry — even in demanding seasons.

True rest is an act of faith. It’s trusting God enough to slow down and believe He is still working even when we are not.

Dear God,
Thank You for the gift of rest. Help me release the pressure to constantly strive and produce. Quiet my anxious thoughts and teach me to trust You with every responsibility I carry. Restore my mind, body, and soul, and remind me that I do not have to earn Your love or my rest. Help me slow down and enjoy Your presence today. Amen.
