PROVO, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov 4, 2025--
SafePackage™ (“SafePackage”), a leader in AI-driven customs compliance and clearance, today announced it has been selected by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as one of the first participants in its Commercial Solutions Opening Pilot Program (CSOP) under Pillar 1, AI-driven solutions. The program works with private sector cutting-edge technologies within CBP’s testing environments to evaluate their ability to streamline trade, promote security, and secure tariff revenue. SafePackage was selected for its AI-driven, highly accurate, and automated compliance and duty collection system that addresses the challenges of high-volume e-commerce trade.
Cross-border e-commerce has seen unprecedented growth, bringing with it challenges related to the accuracy of shipment data, compliance, and proper duty collection. The volume of small packages in global trade combined with recent regulatory changes presents opportunities for the private sector and CBP to improve efficiency, lower costs, and maximize revenue collection. In response, CBP has selected SafePackage as a partner in testing a pilot platform that is designed to facilitate accurate duty payments while providing greater visibility into the supply chain. Through this pilot, SafePackage’s platform will offer CBP a higher level of transparency into the supply chain of products destined for the United States, promoting more effective and efficient trade facilitation and enforcement.
SafePackage directly facilitates the collection and transmission of detailed international mail data, including duty payment confirmation, to CBP before packages ever leave their country of origin and provides comprehensive, at-scale compliance screening at the source, which reduces the influx of high-risk or non-compliant shipments into the U.S. By identifying potential violations such as intellectual property infringements, dangerous goods, and other prohibited or restricted items early on, SafePackage helps streamline the flow of compliant goods.
Additionally, SafePackage strives to deliver highly accurate and automated tariff classifications (HTS codes), value validation, and probable country of origin determinations, which may significantly reduce the need for manual intervention. The SafePackage system captures granular data on each individual shipment, such as product web listings, images, and descriptions. This data can enable CBP to trace goods more effectively and monitor their movement from origin to destination, significantly enhancing supply chain transparency for enforcement purposes.
With SafePackage’s partnership, CBP will be able to evaluate how access to private sector trade data facilitates trade compliance, which presents opportunities for both the private sector and for CBP to improve efficiency, lower costs, and maximize revenue collection.
"We are incredibly proud to partner with U.S. Customs and Border Protection on this important initiative, which has the potential to generate billions of dollars in additional U.S. revenue," said John Farley, Founder and CEO of SafePackage and parent company International Bridge. "Our proprietary AI-driven platform provides an unparalleled level of clarity to the trade process, enabling the heroes at CBP to more easily protect the security of the American people and economic interests of our country on a large scale. At the same time, we aim to ensure that hard-working, compliant shippers have a smoother, more efficient customs clearance process. We are committed to ensuring that we support CBP and their continued efforts to make global trade more secure, transparent, and fair for everyone."
“For the first time, AI-driven data will ensure the security and tracking of U.S. shipments at scale, rather than the honor system,” said Shoshana Grove, CEO of International Bridge and former Executive at the Postal Regulatory Commission. “We are honored to be selected to the CSOP’s inaugural cohort, following our recent selection as one of the first “Qualified Parties” certified by Customs and Border Protection to collect and remit duties from foreign postal operators.”
SafePackage is in active discussions with major retailers and shipping companies as it seeks Partners through the ongoing Pilot Program. All interested parties should contact: [email protected]
