HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep 9, 2025--

Insurity, a leading provider of cloud-based software for insurance carriers, brokers, and MGAs, today shared findings from its 2025 Severe Weather P&C Consumer Pulse Survey. The survey reveals that concern over severe weather continues to rise, with a growing number of people reporting the financial impact in the form of higher insurance premiums. Nearly three in four respondents, 74%, said they are either extremely or moderately concerned about severe weather affecting their insurance coverage in the next five years. More than half, 55%, reported that their premiums have already increased due to severe weather events, while 32% have faced difficulty obtaining coverage because of their location. Additionally, 34% of consumers have bought new types of coverage, such as flood or hurricane insurance, specifically in response to recent severe weather.

Compared to Insurity’s 2024 survey findings, this year’s results point to an upward trend in consumer anxiety and action. Concern has increased from 71% last year to 74% this year, while reports of difficulty obtaining coverage have risen from 25% in 2024 to 32% in 2025. Although the percentage of respondents attributing premium increases to severe weather dipped slightly from 56% last year to 55% this year, the overall picture remains one of mounting strain for policyholders. Similarly, the share of consumers purchasing additional coverage has grown, rising from 27% in 2024 to 34% this year.

“These findings affirm that consumer anxiety regarding severe weather is both enduring and significant,” said Sylvester Mathis, Chief Revenue and Insurance Officer at Insurity. “Despite increased awareness, many policyholders still face challenges with the affordability and availability of coverage. It’s more important than ever for insurers to offer products, pricing, and policies that build confidence and trust value.”

The findings underscore the ongoing impact of severe weather on the insurance landscape, year after year. With consumers facing both higher costs and greater challenges in securing coverage, insurers have an opportunity to strengthen trust by offering more resilient products, transparent communication, and technology-enabled solutions that help policyholders feel better equipped to face the risks ahead.

This survey was conducted in August 2025, and more than 1,000 adult participants were randomly selected across the United States to ensure a representative sample. Respondents were asked a series of 9 questions to gauge their opinions on severe weather and its impact on their P&C insurance coverage.
